GridRush: Make Words, Then Build a Sentence
A vocabulary race is more useful when learners can see the letters, test a word, and then reuse their discoveries in meaningful writing. GridRush has two timed rounds: students make words from a shared letter grid, then create a sentence using words they found.
One big question, investigated: take a stance, explore the source, learn the words, argue it out, play a review game, and land with the Verdict.

Retrieve and spell vocabulary using a common set of letters.

Transfer collected words into a grammatical sentence.
How it works
- 1
The teacher starts a round with a 3-by-3 letter grid. Students see the same grid on their phones and can tap letters or type a word.
- 2
Letters may be reused. Each submitted word receives checking feedback on the phone, including points when accepted or the reason it was crossed out when rejected.
- 3
The live word wall highlights topic and bonus-letter words, grows longer words visually, and tracks counts for each student.
- 4
In Round 2, each student writes one sentence using at least two of their Round 1 words. Sentence results remain stable on phones while learners type.
Frequently asked questions
- Can letters be reused in a word?
- Yes. A letter can be used more than once as students make words from the 3-by-3 grid, as long as every letter appears somewhere in that grid.
- What happens when a word is rejected?
- The phone shows checking feedback and the reason a word was crossed out. Rejected words score zero, so a short invalid entry does not earn points.
- What is the second round for?
- Students write one sentence using two or more words they collected in Round 1. The game keeps those results attached to each phone while the sentence is being written.
- Does the teacher see every student's word?
- The teacher sees the class word wall and student counts during the race. Topic words and bonus-letter words are highlighted to support a quick class review.
